[...] On October 24, 2009 I will be in Frederick, Maryland at the Mall for Kids Are Heroes Day! A few months back, I was selected as one of Lilly’s Heroes and on that day all the heroes are invited at the Mall to talk about their business and bring awareness to their worthwhile cause. I will be there of course promoting Literacy and giving away brand new books and bookmarks! The event is from 10-4pm so come check us out! For more info, visit http://www.justgabe.com/2009/08/12/kids-are-heroes-day-3/ [...]

Good question Yilma,

There are no criteria written anywhere, so it is a bit subjective. However I will say that we recognize kids who do kind things for other people without consideration for themselves. If you check out the kids we have featured on our site we have one that has drilled 500 wells in 16 countries in the last ten years (Ryan Hreljac) and a five-year-old who gave up her birthday presents to support a cat rescue group. Our stories lay everywhere inside that spectrum. We focus on philantrhopic acts that benefit others and/or the environment. Hope that answers your question. :)
