Twitterthons Now Use a Hash Tag

Beginning Friday, April 3, we will use a hash tag on Twitter for our Twitterthons. We will append the hash tag ‘#kah’ to each of our tweets so that it is much easier to see what we and all the other Twitterthon participants are saying at the same time.  If you use TweetChat or TweetGrid (recommended), you can set up one column to search for #kah which will update automatically. If you participate, you can even tweet from Tweetgrid, and there is a hash tag box that will append all of your tweets with the given tag (kah).  This way you will see what all participants are saying regardless of whom you follow.  We have even set up a custom Tweetgrid here. Don’t forget to add ‘kah’ (no quotes) to the hash tag box.

So what is a Twitterthon? This is a two hour block held every Friday night that starts at 8PM EST.  It is hosted by the two founders of Kids Are Heroes.  MaryMargaret (a ten-year-old) will be at the helm of @MMsMusicforLife where she will send her favorite contemporary tunes your way along with a few YouTube videos sprinkled in.  Her dad will be manning @KidsAreHeroes and @TeamCharlie.  @KidsAreHeroes will send out fascinating tidbits and host a trivia game – categories selected by the contestants.  @TeamCharlie will send out a selection of music from totally different genres.  Requests are not only welcomed but encouraged. 

This is all to benefit MaryMargaret’s Music for Life program – an ambitious project to purchase 150 MP3 players for children at the Children’s Medical Center in Washington, D.C..  If you have enjoyed these evenings please recommend us and consider a small donation to help MaryMargaret realize her goal.  This can be done via check or credit card online.  All funds are being handled by the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick.
